Individual Counseling
I work with individuals on a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, grief, life changes, stress, and anger management. I also specialize in OCD therapy, using a blend of cognitive-behavioral and exposure and response prevention techniques. My aim is to help clients process their experiences, develop emotional resiliency, heal from past hurts, and work through thoughts and beliefs that may be impeding overall wellness.
Couples Counseling
Relationships are challenging and can fall in to distress due to neglect over time. Couples counseling focuses on relationship-building strategies that can reverse relationship decay, and create better connection. I also offer pre-marital counseling for couples who want to establish a firm foundation for their future.
Family, Child, and Adolescent Counseling
My practice emphasizes full-family wellness, which integrates child counseling and parent coaching. I work with children aged 7 years and up on many issues, particularly anxiety, depression, grief, and managing body image or stress. Working with adolescents involves also equipping parents with effective strategies to help create better harmony in the home.
Life Coaching
Life coaching focuses on achieving personal and professional goals by creating a roadmap to success together. As well, coaching provides guidance and motivation to help the client identify strengths and overcome obstacles needed to achieve their goals. Throughout the coaching process, clients are empowered to find greater life balance and satisfaction.
College and Career Coaching
Career coaching is offered for teens who are not sure of post-high school plans, as well as college students who seek direction in finding a major or career path. This season in life can be intimidating for both student and parent. Coaching can help find a calling, a major or a college, and develop a plan to get there.
Facilitation
Professional meeting facilitation is offered for corporate and small business settings to help clients focus their time, objectives, and outcomes. Facilitation is a useful means to develop consensus, resolve conflict, and optimize meeting efficiency and productivity.
Cheryl Brodnax, LPC, MA, MBA, MS
I have a passion to help individuals and families find healing, direction, and balance in their lives. Becoming a counselor has been a lifelong calling that began in unlikely places. My first career was in marine biology, which pivoted to program management, and ultimately to counseling. As strange a combination of careers this may be, they have combined my problem solving and interpersonal skills to the joyful work of helping others.
I truly love working with clients of all ages, all backgrounds, and all views on life. I don't believe in a 'one size fits all' approach to counseling, and I strive to work with clients to tailor the right approach for them. Ultimately, the client is the expert on their lives, and I respect the partnership that comes from working together to meet life goals.
I located to Baton Rouge in the early '90's and received a Bachelor of Science, Masters of Science, and Masters of Business Administration from Louisiana State University. In 2019, I received a Masters of Art in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grace College and Theological Seminary. I currently serve as an elder in my church, and am heavily involved in youth mentoring and leadership.
On a personal note, I have been married for over 25 years and have raised two children. I love the outdoors and try to find new adventures wherever I can. I look forward to learning more about you and working together!
